Question Everything

question-mark2Want to make sure you’re not wasting your time or money when engaging a personal services professional (like a trainer)?

Question everything.

Why do you do it this way? What are the benefits for ME? How does this work? When and how will I be able to see the results?

At every consultation I do with a new client, I make sure to do the following:

  1. Ask them what they’re looking to accomplish and what it means to them
  2. Let them know how I work and why I approach my work the way I do
  3. Specifically highlight where I think I can be of the most help and the outcome they should expect
  4. Assure them that everything I tell them should stand up to the most robust scrutiny from the most authoritative sources in exercise and nutrition, and that my performance for them should consistently be held to that standard.

Working with a trainer (or any other service professional) is a partnership. But YOU are the one paying the bills. So you should get (more than) what you paid for – and how can you do that without clarifying expectations (for both you and your expert)?

I’d love to hear from you about your experiences and thoughts on this. Please respond to our Facebook page or e-mail me at Dan@TriValleyTrainer.com
